Angela specialises in Accounting Information Systems. Besides teaching the topic, she is also a doctoral student in the Accounting and Finance (A&F) department, and the Asia-Pacific Regional Vice-President of the Special Interest Group for Accounting Information Systems (which is part of the Association for Information Systems) since 2009. She has an academic background and professional experience in accounting, auditing and information technology (database, decision support, systems design and analyst). Her research interests include decision making, modelling and support, education, and support for international students. She has since published her Masters research thesis in the DSS journal, at HICSS and PACIS conferences and was also invited to present her research overseas including at the University of Arizona Eller College's Management of Information Systems department (one of the top 5 MIS department in the world).

Prior to joining A&F in 2007, she was an academic staff member in the Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) department between 2000 and 2006 and taught business programming, introductory information systems, systems analysis and design courses in the BBIM, BCOM and GSE degrees/programs. She was the co-author of an in-house data modelling textbook (which is still widely used in various INFOSYS and INFOMGMT courses). She was also awarded the faculty’s Teaching Excellence Award in December 2003 for her excellence in teaching and service contribution at the Business School (in the Information Management courses and the OSAS support programme) and again in July 2010 for her excellence in innovation in teaching (in the Accounting Information Systems course). She was also the runner-up recipient for an ISANA NZ Award in August 2006 for her quality contribution by an individual to the international education sector in New Zealand.
