Professor and Head of Department, Basil Sharp joined the department in 1991. His research interests span the field of environmental economics and law and economics. He has a specific interest in developing microeconomic foundations for analyzing mechanisms for allocating natural resources, treaties and institutional structures in general. He has also applied non-market valuation methods to a range of environmental problems in New Zealand. His current research focuses on contracting and international treaties.
