Barbara Plester came from Massey University Albany campus where she completed her undergraduate and Masters degrees in Management as well as completing her PhD also in Management She teaches on the BBIM and the BCom degree programmes in the areas of management, business communication and organisational behaviour. She enjoys teaching and has a Diploma in Teaching from Christchurch Teachers College.
Her research interests include workplace humour, organisational culture, IT, group and team processes and communication. Her PhD research explores the influence of organisational culture on workplace humour in a variety of New Zealand companies. Her on-going research programme continues to explore workplace humour and future research will include email humour, humour roles, leadership and humour, IT culture and organizational misbehaviour. She has industry experience in sales and marketing, project management and HR functions. She has worked in Publishing and in the Information Communications Technology industry.
