Darl's research is focussed on organisational connectivity and performance in distributed work environments. He is currently studying distributed teams in global firms and has published articles on the connectivity metaphor in Organization Studies (2008, 29, 1, 127-144) and 'requisite connectivity' in Organizational Dynamics (37, 2 April-June, 2008, 181-189).

Research supervision : I am interested in how much connectivity is necessary and/or optimal for distributed work and how groups and organisations bridge connective gaps. I also have students developing audit (consulting) tools for organisations interested in improving their internal and external connectivity.

Darl serves as Senior Editor of the University of Auckland Business Review, the most widely-read business publication in New Zealand. He is also a Research Associate of the New Zealand Leadership Institute and Academic Facilitator for business growth and export programmes at the ICEHOUSE.

He teaches graduate courses in Organisational Change and Innovation (MGMT 726, HRMGMT 704) and an award-winning undergraduate course using on-line business simulations (MGMT 301).
