Deb is a Senior Lecturer in Management and International Business Department in the Faculty of Business & Economics at the University of Auckland. She currently teaches in the Postgraduate and Executive Programmes in the areas of Organisation Change and Development and Professional Development. Her research interests are in the area of family business, SME growth, SME governance, leaderhsip, strategy adn internationalisation and more recently a developing interest in social entrepreneurship.

Deb is involved in the student-led initiative SPARK and is currently one of the Faculty directors of the SPARK Vision to Business Programme. She was part of the founding team for The ICEHOUSE Business Growth Programmes and continues to develop and facilitate the Owner Manager Programme and is involved to a lesser extent in the Agribusiness programme. Deb's consultancy work is with SMEs and Family Businesses in the areas of team and leadership development, strategy development, and business growth. She is a Member of the Family Firm Institute and is a Board member for a number of privately owned NZ businesses.
