Research Interests:
Denise’s primary research interest is centred on consumer behaviour. She is currently taking a constructivist approach to exploring consumers' paychological contracts with particular brands, building upon her interest in both identity and the self.

Related to this interest is her exploration of consumers' experience of shopping, with a particualr focus placed on the role of ritual and attachment to place.

Denise has a special interest in social sustainability and is currently exploring how the Dominant Social Paradigm impacts on sustainable behaviour. Related to this work is Denise's research on anti-consumption.

Teaching Interests:
Denise’s main teaching interests are in the areas of consumer behaviour - drawing from her background as an applied psychologist, and her ten years managing her own public relations agency; and qualitative methods at the postgraduate level. Denise is also interested in advertising, taking a branding focus.

Hobbies and Interests:
Two children and a collection of 'exotic' pets (a bull dog, a cornish rex and a siamese) keep Denise fit, poor and happy. But they do have to compete with her attempts at practicing yoga, a new found venture in to road biking and an unrequited love of gardening. However, her inability to stay on the bike for more than 40 minutes, lack of flexibility and an overgrown garden, reflect that her family always has the advantage in this particular competition.
